Pine Mountain Club residents love their pets, so there are services designed to help our four-legged friends and their human owners.
If violations regarding animals are observed, please notify Pine Mountain Club Patrol at (661) 242-3788.
Lost and Found Animals
If you find a misplaced pet or lose a pet, please contact PMCPOA's Patrol Department at 661-242-3788. PMC's Patrol works directly with the Mountain Communities SPCA in taking care of lost pets until they can be reunited with their owners. There are many animals available for adoption through the SPCA. For information about potential adoptions or fostering of these animals, please click here.
Mountain Communities SPCA
MCSPCA rescues abandoned, stray and neglected dogs and cats in the Frazier Mountain communities. Its volunteers provide temporary foster homes, arrange permanent adoptions, obtain veterinary care including spay/neuter services, and offer education on the humane treatment of animals. For more information about the MCSPCA, please click here, or call 245-3035.
The MCSPCA urgently needs to raise funds at present. If you can support this effort and have anything to donate -- gently used items of any kind - or major treasures -- the organization will sell these donated items at upcoming events to generate funds for the animals. Items left unsold will be brought to other local non-profit groups in need. Tax-donation receipts are offered. (Cash donations are most welcome as well.)
Please phone 245-3035. Drop offs can be brought to 6403 Frazier Mountain Park Road in Lake of the Woods (across from Midway Market) at Dirty Hairy’s. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
PMC Dog Park
One of PMC's newest amenities is the Dog Park, located at the east end of the PMC Campground.
PMC’s Dog Park officially opened May 8, 2010 after many hours of volunteer effort on the part of the Dog Park Club. Volunteers painstakingly worked on the planning, publicizing and construction of the area.
As the Park gains membership, more people and dogs will visit on a regular basis. Dog owners can count on a group being there Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.
Membership applications are available in the lobby at the clubhouse and here on the website. Membership for the first year is $40. In the second year of operation, the membership fee will drop to $25/year as we learn what operational expenses we need to plan for. Shelter on the Hill, A Humane Society
The goal of Shelter on the Hill is to build an animal shelter which will house lost and abandoned animals from the mountain communities and which will, when built, provide greater opportunities to educate and create awareness of responsible pet ownership, as well as encouraging the spaying and neutering of pets to reduce strays, prevent neglect and abuse, and to show compassion to pets and reunite them with their owners. For more information, please call 245-5021, or click here.
A Little Bit of Wildlife
If you find an injured or orphaned wild animal, A Little Bit of Wildlife can help. This group is a non-profit organization licensed under Tehachapi Wildlife Rehab and Education (http://tehachapiwildlife.com/services), and exists solely upon donations. If you find an animal (wildlife only please, no cats or dogs) that needs help, or for more information, call Vicki at 242-2955 or Suzy at 242-1803.
